Detailed Safari: 5-Day Gorilla Trek in Uganda and Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met and greeted by our representative. He will briefly take you through the trip plan and then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a brief stopover at Ellen DE Generous Museum for virtual gorilla trekking. You will then cross the Cyanika boarder and proceed with your journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking & Batwa cultural tour
After early breakfast and with a lunch box, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. After briefing, you will enter the forest to search for the gentle giants in thick forest with slippery slopes in the vegetation covered with mist. Gorilla trekking is an exhausting activity but sighting the mountain gorillas is fully satisfying. When you meet the mountain gorillas, you will only be permit to spend with an hour and during that hour, please take as many pictures as possible. You will watch the gorillas play, feed, nurture their young ones, an interact. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will go for the Batwa cultural tour and during the cultural tour you will learn more about the ways of life of the Batwa people.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park with boat ride along the twin lakes
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and cross the Cyanika boarder for the transfer to Volcanoes national park. You will have a stopover at the twin lakes of Burera ad Ruhondo for a relaxed boat ride. During the boat ride, you will appreciate the lake’s beautiful scenery and watch the setting sun. The boat cruise offers golden opportunities to be amazed by the magnificent appearance of the Virunga mountains which are found in the area. There is also the scenery of the spectacular terrain, the charmingly terraced hills, tropical rainforests, and attractive tinny islands located within the lakes. After the boat ride, you will proceed with the journey to Volcanoes national park.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Ibwiwachu cultural tour
After breakfast and with your lunch box, the driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and allocation of gorilla families. You will then start the incredible gorilla trekking adventure. During gorilla trekking, physical fitness is essential most of the times.
Many times, gorilla trekking lasts between 1 -6 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night and trekkers are allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas. Gorilla trekking is a wonderful experience and when you locate the gorillas, you will watch them play, nurture their young ones, feed, interact and guard each other.
After trekking, you will be taken back to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will be taken for the Ibwiwachu cultural tour.

Day 5: Transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
