Detailed Itinerary: 13-Day Rwanda Gorillas and Great Migration Safari in Tanzania

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali and transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will go to the immigration desk to acquire the visa. After, you will proceed to the arrivals where you will meet our representative. Our representative will introduce you to the driver guide for a brief introduction. The driver guide will transfer you to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Following breakfast, you will checkout of the hotel and transfer to the Kigali city center for the city tour. You will begin with the visit to the Gisozi genocide museum and while there, you will learn more about what transpired during the April 1994 genocide that claimed thousands of lives. You will proceed to the Belgium museum, Inema arts gallery, local markets and craft markets for shopping. After the city tour, you will have lunch and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Ibwiwachu cultural tour

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing. After briefing, you will be allocated to gorilla families and in each gorilla family, there will be 8 tourists. You will then be transferred to the starting point of the gorilla trek which begins at 8am. A silverback is the head of the gorilla family and it is his duty to protect and safeguard the family members. After the 1 hour with these gentle giants, you will hike back to the starting point of the hike where the driver guide will meet you and transfer you back to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will go for the Ibwiwachu cultural tour where you will learn more about the breath-taking Kinyarwanda traditional, cultural dances, and drama.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and boat ride along the twin lakes

Following an early breakfast at the lodge, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing. After briefing, you will be driven to the starting point of the trek. Once you locate the golden monkeys, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you will take a scenic boat ride to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 5: Transfer to the airport for the flight to Kilimanjaro

Have breakfast and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for the flight to Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro, our representative will pick you up and then transfer to your hotel in Arusha for relaxation dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, the driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel where you slept the previous night. He will transfer you to Tarangire national park with memorable views of the country side. Tarangire National Park is a place of residence to biggest population of elephants in the country and is famous for its old baobab trees. You will meet these enormous animals face to face and learn how elephant families socialize. Throughout the game drive, you will sight animals such as zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, lions, leopards, cheetahs among others. Later, you will have picnic lunch with beautiful views of river and wildlife.
