Prior planning a gorilla safari in Uganda can lead to an unforgettable time in the country. The first thing to do is to determine when to visit the park.The conservation area can be visited at any time of the year; however, it is best during the dry season, in December, January, February, June, July, August, September, and early October. During this time, the trails of the forest are more comfortable for walking in search of the primates; the hikes and access tend to be easier with less or no rainfall. Despite the dry season being the best time to travel, the park can be visited in the wet season as well, in March, April, May, and November.

Arrange official documents, when planning to travel to Uganda, you must have all travel documents ready. These include a valid passport that is valid for at least 6 months on the date of travel, a valid yellow fever vaccination card, and a Visa that can be applied for online. It is very important to apply for a visa at least 3 months before the date of travel and any other important travel documents. Purchase gorilla permits in advance. The permit is an official document issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). This year, this costs $800 per person for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents, and 300,000shillings for East African citizens. The gorilla habituation permit is priced at $1,500 per person, $1000 Foreign residents, and 750,000 shillings for East African residents.  Buying permits in advance keeps you from missing out or avoiding last-minute disappointments due to availability. Within the 4 sectors of the park (Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija, and Rushaga), there are habituated gorilla families, each of which is tracked by a maximum of 8 individuals. It is wise to book permits in the location where your permit has been purchased.
